Rebuilding an Icon in the Rockies – HI Jasper Hostel & Staff Housing
ROC Modular is proud to support Hostelling International in the redevelopment of the HI Jasper Hostel and employee accommodation following the devastating 2024 wildfires. This landmark project represents resilience, innovation, and community—bringing a beloved destination back to life in the heart of Jasper National Park.
The new facility comprises 62 factory-built modules totaling over 26,000 sq.ft., delivered across multiple buildings including:
Working alongside Eton-West Construction (ALTA) Inc. as General Contractor and Merchant Architecture Inc. as design lead, the project integrates enhanced wildfire-resistant materials, expanded staff housing to help address regional shortages, and improved guest amenities such as welcoming shared spaces, a larger café, and an open community hub for travellers and locals alike.
The original hostel was also constructed using modular methods back in 2018, with members of our team involved in that first build—making this rebuild especially meaningful.
“Rebuilding HI Jasper is more than a construction project—it’s a commitment to the values that shape us: community, strength, and connection.”
— Julius Van Wyk, CEO, HI Canada
